China expresses shock over New Delhi blast
“China is shocked by this incident, conveyed condolences to the victims, extended sincere sympathies to the families of the deceased and the injured, and wished the injured a speedy recovery,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian told reporters in Beijing. He confirmed that no Chinese nationals were affected. The blast occurred around 6:52 p.m. local time (0122 GMT) near the historic Mughal-era Red Fort, which remains closed until Nov. 13 while authorities investigate under anti-terror laws.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowed that “all those responsible will be brought to justice.” Security measures have been tightened nationwide, with key installations—including the Delhi Metro, Red Fort, government buildings, and Delhi airport—placed on high alert, according to India’s Central Industrial Security Force.
Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu expressed “deep sadness” over the “tragic loss of lives,” while Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said his country “stands in solidarity with the people of India” and sent thoughts to those affected.
Kashmiri leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq also conveyed his condolences, writing on social media that he was “deeply saddened by the tragic incident” and offered prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured and comfort for the bereaved families.
